Mum has depression but won’t get help even though she has become abusive to my brother and I.?

Question by : Mum has depression but won’t get help even though she has become abusive to my brother and I.?
Long story short, she decided to split up with my Dad in June 2009. Not sure if this is because she didn’t want to be with him or the fact that she had so much debt the stressed pushed her over the edge. After that they filed for divorce but as the recession just hit and my Dad can’t work because he had a stoke when I was 11 they had to remain living together as we tried to sell the house for a) money and b) to prevent repossession of the house. We had many repossession and bay lift threats and some court orders for not paying e.g. council tax although my Dad gave my Mum money to pay the debt off she spent it on something else. They also had to put the divorce on hold because they couldn’t pay the fees. Anyway we all lived in a very hostile environment. My Mum stopped working because she was depressed and hasn’t worked since! Eventually we managed to sell out house in Decemeber last year and me brother and I live with our Mum. We thought she was okay but a month or 2 after the move she started having psychotic episodes like we would watch tv and she would suddenly say that the people on tv were whores and stuff. When she has these episodes she always says they are going to get us but won’t say who when we ask. She says me brother and I are prostitutes and whores and implies our Dad sexually abused us as children which is ridiculous! Once she grabbed my hand and dug her nails in and made me bleed. I have offered to get help for her but she doesn’t think she needs it. I hate living with her but don’t earn enough to move out and can’t leave my brother. Plus if we left her she could not afford to find a place to live on her own. She takes antidepressants sometimes but she says she can’t take them at the moment (dunno if this is true) because she is on pain med for osteoarthritis in her knee which I am guessing she got because she is pretty overweight (emotional eating etc). Idunno what to do? I have offered to get her help but she thinks she’s fine and doesn’t want me to tell her brother or sister anything. I can’t live like this forever it’s not fair. Any ideas? I can’t drag her to the doctors.
She also threatens to kill herself a lot though I am fairly sure she won’t do this as she’s threaten to do it for like years now so she would have done it by now if she meant it! She has also said she would kill me and my brother before but thankfully as she is like only 5″ I think I could fight her off. Sometimes I kind of wish she would kill herself which is awful I know but it would solve a lot of problems as I think it won’t be long until we start struggling financially again.
I am 23 and my brother is 18 so obviously we wouldn’t need to be adopted. My Dad knows about all this but is not capable of making informed decisions since having his stoke. My aunt and uncle also know but there isn’t a lot they can do without my Mum deciding to help herself. I am going to my local doctors today to see if they can offer advice though I doubt it.

Yeh been there done that, splitting image of my mum.

If she won’t get help she’ll keep abusing you.

You need to
A) either get out, maybe move to your dads. Go into a foster home,
B) call a counselling helpine, here in australia 1800-55-1800 is eligable, they’ll give you professional
advice.
C) put up with the abuse like nothing happened.

Next time she’s in an episode you actually could go into your room and close the door and dial for an ambulance saying she’s in a completely unhealthy mental state and that you’re worried for her well-being and your own well-being.

Don’t tell her till they arrive otherwise things COULD get nasty. But in a hospital they’d have a psychiatrist evaluate her and if she isn’t well she’d go into a psych ward where they would help her get better.

Be really careful about the hospital option though, if she found out you called an ambulance while she’s in a fit of rage, it wouldn’t be very safe.

Goodluck

My roommate didn’t pay his half of rent for three months and now we owe back rent and are getting evicted. On the summons it says that we owe $ 1,304 in back rent. If i pay all of that before the court date will the judge dismiss the eviction and will I get to stay in my apartment?

once a bank buys the house how quick til its for sale to the public for a for sale sign on it?

Question by smallville: once a bank buys the house how quick til its for sale to the public for a for sale sign on it?

Best answer:

Answer by chatsplas@sbcglobal.net
Varies
Banks don’t like owning homes and aren’t good about acting expeditiously
Contact them directly if interested, and get a jump on it. . .prepare to be given run around and make multiple calls to find out anything

Banks don’t generally buy homes, they foreclose on them because owner hasn’t paid the mortgage, and they have more equity in home in than owner, and so they become owner; they act slowly so be prepared

Can a payment stop this repo?

Question by adviceplease!: Can a payment stop this repo?
I had my loan set up on auto debit. My house was broken into and though everything forgot to call and switch my account info with my bank. My truck is now in repossession (or the letter said I had until 4 days ago to bring it current). I called they day it was due and asked to send cash via Western Union (so the payment would post faster) and the lady said you need to make it by phone. I called by that evening to do a check by phone (the first lady said call before 9pm) and when I did she said I could only pay for it via Western Union! I explained at this point that it was 8:00pm and that they bank was closed to get cash and send and that I was simply doing what the first lady had asked (paying via phone). She told me that it HAD to be paid by 9pm and that is the only option I had. I called back the next morning and explained the situation and the lady promised to call me back and didn’t. I have all the Western Union information and have the cash to bring the loan current and could send next months payment as well. My question is, if I send it though Western Union (though bill pay) so that the account is current will that stop the repossession? I don’t want to send $ 3,000 cash and still have the car repossessed tomorrow. In that case I’d rather keep the cash and work it out. I’m thinking that if I send it Western Union and then it posts to my account they can’t still take my car correct and how can they refuse the payment if I pay cash at West Union? Please advise. I’d like to take care of this and send if off today.

Sounds like you are speaking to the front line customer service reps that do not know what they are doing. You need to call a supervisor and describe everything that occurred. Record names, times that you call etc. They want to be paid as a repo is expensive. The problem is that the deadline passed and you had to be really past due for this action. Again, call and ask for a supervisor and do not give up until one gets on the phone. You may want to call legal aid in your area for some basic legal advice.

Does anyone have legal advice about a house sale and inspection issues?

Question by Ellen: Does anyone have legal advice about a house sale and inspection issues?
Upon sale of my house, we agreed to have flashing fixed on the roof because of an inspection flaw. We had it fixed by a neighbor who’s a roofer, and submiited the receipt of work that was done to the realtor. Now a year after the sale, they contacted their lawyer with threats to sue us for $ 6000 because they are not happy with the work done. We had did what was asked us, hired a competent roofer and and had no idea “they weren’t happy”. Are we still liable?
They forwarded us a long list of repairs, way beyond anything presented to us before the sale of the house. We can’t afford to hire a lawyer, let alone pay $ 6000. Thank you so much for your help.

Answer by Leogirl0804
If they are not happy with the work that should have been brought out at time of closing with a final walk through. Check with your Realtor to see if they signed one. There should be one on file. If your realtor doesn’t have one, the buyers Realtor should have one. The buyers are trying to see what they can get out of you. If these items were missed by THEIR inspector, then they need to take issue with THEIR inspector. You can relax.

if i do a quick sale will I be able to buy right away? Or will my credit be to bad?

Question by hot b: if i do a quick sale will I be able to buy right away? Or will my credit be to bad?
I have missed a few mortgage payments and I want to do a quick sale before they foreclose on my house, will I be able to buy a house right away?

NO unless you have a credit score of 700, The lender will see that even though you paid off your mortgage you still were unable to make the monthly payments, You might try unconventional mortgage lenders (look for ads in major city papers) and most likely they will ask for a large up front $ over 20% plus all the closing costs in cash..

What type of motion needs to be filed after the tenants failed to follow court order and pay the back-rent?

Question by : What type of motion needs to be filed after the tenants failed to follow court order and pay the back-rent?
The District Court Judgement ordered the tenants to pay
the back-rent within 7 days.
They haven’t done so.
The judgement didn’t clarify the exact amount the tenants are to pay.

I have filed a motion to clarify. Will this do? I plan to bring up how the tenants haven’t paid anything. And also to tell the judge to indicate the exact amount owed by the tenants on the judgement.

Will the judge hear how the tenants haven’t paid anything or will the judge say that its irrelevant to the motion to clarify?

Best answer:

Answer by choko_canyon
If the judgment ordered them to pay the ‘back rent’, then THAT is the amount specified and no further clarification is necessary.

The next motion should be eviction.

Child support affecting credit for mortgage loan?

Question by Tangled Web: Child support affecting credit for mortgage loan?
Many years ago when my husband divorced his ex-wife, he was self-empoyed and missed several payments. Four years ago, he filed necessary documentation to have the arrears included with his monthly payments, increasing his payments monthly to include an additional $ 100. After four years, the Texas Attorney General’s office is showing it outstanding and consistently late. We are trying to purchase our first home but are having trouble getting the financing as his FICO score is reflecting this issue. What can we do to get around this issue and get approved? We have documentation that shows he is current on child support and current on the agreement to pay arrears.

The only thing you can do is either one, contact the cs office, show them your proof that he is not behind & ask them to fix it on his credit report to be correct. Or 2 the other option is to contact the credit reporting agency, equifax, transunion, or whichever one it is on and dispute that item. There are ways ot do it online through each agencies website, & you will have to do it with each one that it appears on. Then the credit reporting agency will contact the child support office to verify it’s correctness, & if the cs office says oops, here’s the real info. they will fix it. But if the cs office says oh no that’s right, then they won’t fix it & you will have to deal with the cs office directly on getting it fixed. Either way it is going to take about a month to fix and update the credit reports records.
