What would happen if I called my mortgage company and told them I’ve lost my job?

Question by Bill Spry: What would happen if I called my mortgage company and told them I’ve lost my job?
And couldn’t pay my mortgage and probably won’t be able to pay it ever. If I wasn’t in arrears yet would they give me a runaround? Would I actually have to miss a few payments before the conversation got serious? I guess my question is how would the initial conversation go?
Keep in mind I’m trying to sell the house anyway and wouldn’t want a “payment plan.”

It is better to contact them as soon as possible if you did loose your job. Most people wait until it’s to late to contact their bank. Depending on the bank they will try to work out a temporary payment plan that you can afford so you can keep the house. You need to call and found out who you need to talk to.
