Question by : BLACK FRIDAY people, could you please help the poor this way?
Following are three of the answers I’ve gotten to my question of whether there are soup kitchens and pantries or food banks for the poor in England:

People needing food banks in the UK are increasing fast, read here.

Just Google ‘food banks uk’ and you will see a pile of stories about british people needing help in this way.

People’s experience with poverty in England vary greatly to each individual person. For example, one person may loose their home due to repossession, they are immediately rehoused in a temporary home, given State Benefits and placed on a waiting list for Social Housing. Another person can be removed from a shared home because it is being sold, find themselves on the street with no where to go. They may end up sleeping in a Flop House run by a church. These are not ‘charities’ as such, if you have no money for a nights shelter, you are not allowed in. It is usually confused elderly people and Bums who end up in Flop Houses. If you have no residence you have no welfare money allocated to you. When winter approaches, Prison Inmate numbers swell as thousands of men and women have themselves committed to Prison by committing a crime in order to escape the bad weather. Outside Prison, they sleep under bridges and in derelict houses freezing at night, in Prison they have a bed and three meals a day, but Prison is an animal house where you have to be able to defend your self from predatory homosexual rape and bullying. Again people have very different experiences of Poverty, well spoken former middle class folks tend to be welcomed and given adequate assistance if they fall on hard times. Working class people are treated with often extreme hostility by churches, State Benefit and housing boards. It is the same with Health Care in England.

I am NOT British !!
————————-
They are not going through any struggles in England.
There is more waste here than I have seen anywhere.
I have worked with homeless and marginalised people.
For 18 years at least and in many soup kitchens.
I began doing so with Simon Community in Ireland 1990′s
I spend every Christmas providing teams to man “soups”.
We serve homeless people the unwanted unloved.
And asylum seekers refugees and immigrants.
Those groups take top priority.
Plus we provide clothes and bedding sleeping bags etc.
We live in a large mansion with two basements.
And an annexe which is next doors large basement.
One of the basements is like a war bunker full of provisions.
We visit supermarkets who discard perfectly good food.
You wouldn’t believe what they discard and why !!
Our colleagues and commune members collect contributions.
It is actually great fun but quite hard work so we share it.
Britain wants for nothing but the ostracised people here don’t.
So we have a robin hood style way of helping them.
Take from the plenty give to the needy quite simply.
We put on a couple of Christmas feed ups and parties.
And even a nativity play in which some of us take part.
Plus made up by one or two professional panto players.
If you want details of some soup kitchens email this account.
Be happy to help you indeed with information or directions.

So, my question is, “From the things you will be throwing away after buying new stuff today BLACK FRIDAY, could you dial up any place for the homeless in the U.S. or anywhere around the world where you are celebrating BLACK FRIDAY, and donate those items, PLEASE?
Each time there are more and more young persons who are coming up with ways to help. Since I’m not too young and am not in best health, I pass this message along to those who are. Thank you!

Consider it done. I have had a load of unworn sweaters from quite a few Christmas presents long enough to be able to donate them without causing offence. Thank you for giving me the little push that was needed.
Edit…Now you’ve done it, I’m looking what else I can donate. LOL
